The UTEP Department of Theater, Dance and Film provided our class with a project for their production of A Christmas Carol. My design proposal was highly based on my first memory of this movie. What stuck with me the most was the use of the phrase “Bah Humbug!” To me as a child didn’t mean anything in particular, but from the context I could tell it wasn’t a good thing to say, especially during the holidays. The phrase can’t be said without someone thinking about Ebenezer Scrooge, so I figured using it on a poster around the holidays would be a great way to get people’s attention. The typography and the styling were heavily influenced by victorian era posters, characteristic of the time period in which the story takes place.
